Blinded SynopsisDanish backpacker Mike Hammershoi (Anders W. Berthelsen) is running from a dark secret. One night, while travelling through the Scottish borders, he stops at Black’s estate hoping to find some work. There, he encounters blind farm-owner Francis Black (Peter Mullan) and his elderly mother Bella (Phyllida Law), in a shuttered, decaying mansion, cut off from the outside world. Mike starts work on the farm, dumping the debris of the Blacks’ once-successful business into the "pit" – a vortex of quicksand at the edge of the estate. The young woman, emotionally suffocated by her husband, is increasingly drawn to the traveller. They become lovers and, as the sexual tension increases, so too does Francis’s rage. |

Blonded Reviews'A Gothic tale brewed with Zola-style realism and brought to life by a strong cast that sustains a heightened level of simmering emotions." Variety, 'Peter Mullan’s implosive intensity sucks the film towards it like a black hole. Sunday Herald ‘Smouldering atmosphere and murderous passion, Yule achieves a grand guignol modern gothic tale with it’s roots in the Bronte’s windswept sexual tensions. Engaging, moody and as dark as an unmarked grave at midnight’ Sunday Herald |
